Itโ€™s a shorthand for several other annotations that allow for quick and easy configuration of a Spring Boot project.

But what exactly happens behind the scenes when you use this annotation?

First, the @SpringBootApplication annotation enables the @Configuration, @EnableAutoConfiguration, and @ComponentScan annotations.

The @Configuration annotation indicates that a class will be used as a source of bean definitions for the application context.

The @EnableAutoConfiguration annotation enables automatic configuration of your application based on the dependencies present in the classpath. This means that the application can automatically configure settings such as data sources, security, and more.

The @ComponentScan annotation is used to search for and include components, such as controllers, in the application context.

By using the @SpringBootApplication annotation, you save time and simplify the process of configuring a Spring Boot project.
